Kristen Wiig's next role may be to star as a surrogate mother in the indie film Nasty Baby.

According to EntertainmentWeekly the 39 year-old funny-woman is in talks with writer-director Sebastian Silva to star in his film. Nasty Baby will be a Brooklyn drama about a gay couple (played by Silva and Tunde Adebimpe) who try to have a child, but need their friend (who would be Wiig's character Anna) to carry the baby.

TheWrap reported that Wiig has not closed the deal yet, but she has shown serious interest in the part. The Saturday Night Live alum has diversified herself as an actress, taking on various projects, since the success of Bridesmaids. According to ContactMusic.com Nasty Baby will also star Denis O'Hare, Mark Margolis, and Alia Shawkat.

Silva made a name for himself with 2009's award-winning foreign language film The Maid and returned to Sundance with Crystal Fairy and Magic Magic.

Wiig's next movie, "Anchorman: the Legend Continues," will hit theaters Dec. 20.
