Edgy and sultry songstress Lana Del Rey has come forward to let some pent up issues off her chest. Rey expressed that she felt that she has had a hard time being welcomed in the “American public eye.”

Rey told Radio.com, “I had to go around the world for two years just to have an audience in Chicago. I mean, I could just have been unpopular forever, that probably would have been a lot less tiring.”

The people who had doubted Rey’s talent will be silenced with Rey’s recent breakthrough. Rey has found success and gained attention with her collaboration with French house DJ Cedric Gervais on her single “Summertime Sadness.” The single is currently number 16 on the Billboard's Hot 100.

In the interview with Radio.com Rey shares her opinions on making new music and the obstacles she faced with the music leaks. Rey said, ”I do feel discouraged, yeah. I don’t really know what to put on the record. But I guess I could just put them on and see what happens. Each time I write… I’ll never write a song if I don’t think it’s going to be perfect for the record.”

Rey also gave insight in the direction that she is taking for the next album. She describes the music as “really low-key and stripped back, all sort of West Coast inspired.” In the mist of her emotional turmoil and drama Rey has been focusing on her involvement in the 30-minute short film Tropico. The Examiner reports that Rey has promised to premiere her “farewell project” in Hollywood and New York soon.

Rey has been dropping hints about Tropico on twitter. She has tweeted “I can't wait to see you at our premiers for Tropico at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery and in NYC.” Rey keeps reiterating that Tropico will be her “farewell project” in the tweet, “Looking forward to seeing you for the farewell project. I adore you and thank you for inspiring me. TROPICO.”

Fans are worried that Rey will be leaving the glamorous limelight once the film is released. Rey has yet to announce the set premiere dates for Tropico.
