Loud cheering erupted at The Teen Choice awards when Lea Michele came on stage to accept her award for her role as Rachel Berry on Glee, making it her first public appearance since her co-star and real life boyfriend, Cory Monteith, passed away from a heroin and alcohol overdose on July 13th.
The teary eyed Glee star said,” I just wanted to be here today to personally thank all of you and tell everyone out there how much all of your love and support has meant to me over these very past difficult few weeks,” according to L.A Times, “I promise that with your love we're gonna get through this together. He was very special to me and also to the world."
Moments earlier, her Glee co-stars accepted an award for Best Comedy. People reports that they also have something to say about the late Monteith.
Cory was like a brother to us," Amber Riley told the audience. "He was always ready to sign an autograph or take a picture with a fan, and he loves you Gleeks."
Glee is planning to make their third episode a tribute to Monteith. It will be returning this Fall.
