If you have too much money and can’t think of anything else to spend it on, be sure to stop by Ray’s & Stark Bar in LA to blow some cash tasting one of the 20 waters added to the 45 page menu the restaurant has to offer.
Located in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the aqua menu is overseen by water sommelier Martin Riese. No, you don’t have to pretend you know what a sommelier is. It’s someone who knows all about wine and generally can tell patrons what wine goes with what dish in fine restaurants. So I guess we’re applying this term to someone who know what pairs well with water these days. Here’s a hint: EVERYTHING.
Well for some of us anyway. Eater.com shows a quote from Riese saying "We are already accustomed to pairing food with wine or beer, but many people don't know that water is just as important to the entire dining experience." What ever you say Martin.
The waters come from 10 different countries, and Riese even has his own line, appropriately called "90H20". Gawker reports that the price range is from 8 to 20 dollars a bottle. 20 dollars for one bottle of water? This place makes baseball stadiums seem cheap. Only in LA I guess. The menu debuted on Monday.
