Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones are taking a break from their marriage after months of living separate lives.

A rep for Zeta-Jones tells E! News, “Catherine and Michael are taking some time apart to evaluate and work on their marriage.”
The Behind the Candalabra actor and Entrapment actress have been married for 13 years.

According to People, neither star has taken the steps to file for legal separation or file for divorce. The last time the couple was photographed together was April 22. Since, Douglas and Zeta-Jones have been photographed separately on the red carpet, and are also living apart. Douglas is reportedly living on a yacht off the coast of Sardinia while Zeta-Jones resides in New York City.

Although the reason behind the break is unclear, sources sit stress on their marriage as the cause. Douglas triumphantly battled throat cancer in 2010 while Zeta-Jones continues to battle bipolar disorder.

“The stress has taken a toll on their marriage,” a friend explains.
The couple have two children together, Dylan, 13, and Carys, 10.
