Actress and former model Monica Bellucci and actor Vincent Cassel are ending their 14-year marriage. The news follows months of speculation that their marriage would be coming to an end.
A rep for Bellucci confirmed the news to E! News. The rep stated that they reached a “mutual agreement” to split. They have two daughters: Deva, 8, and Léonie, 3.
They met in 1996 while making the French film L'appartement and married in 1999. Bellucci is best known for appearing in The Matrix Reloaded and The Passion of the Christ. Cassel is a French actor who has appeared in American films like Ocean’s Twelve and Black Swan. He also appeared in A Dangerous Method.
According to The Daily Mail, signs that the couple were splitting came in April when Bellucci spoke about marriage in an interview with Grazia magazine.
“Marriage, we never know how long it will last...Today, it works, but in a year, I don’t know,” she said.
Also in April, Cassell reportedly told Britain's Closer magazine, “My wife and me are very different animals. This is probably the key to our relationship after 18 years together...We don't seek other people's approval.”
The Mail notes that Cassel and Bellucci have kept their own apartments in recent years in PAris and Rome, respectively.
Bellucci is reportedly in Serbia for a new film, while Cassel is working on a new French version of Beauty and the Beast.
