This week’s episode of Necessary Roughness gets even more rough. Terrence is about to start the experimental treatment to get him back on the field - and Dani and Nico are more nervous about it than ever. Even though things are rocky between the two, Nico gets Dani Paloma’s location so she can try to get her back as her assistant.
Unfortunately, Dani can’t convince Paloma to come back to her. Paloma’s been dishonest, and she can’t get over that and work for Dani again. Paloma leaves the coffee shop, and on her way out, a black car with two FBI agents pulls up. They take Dani in for questions, but she refuses to answer any, waving her patient confidentiality flag. Later, Nico tries to explain to Dani that he had nothing to do with it, but Dani is having a hard time trusting Nico all over again, as well as the V3 clinic. The next day, Terrence is telling Dani how excited he is to go through with the experimental treatment. Meanwhile, Dani is trying to hint to him that it’s a bad idea, and that he should seek a third or fourth opinion, not through the clinic. Terrence reassures her that it’s safe.
On top of the experimental treatment, Connor’s got more good news for Terrence. Dr. Dre of Beats by Dr. Dre wants Terrence to sell headphones for him in conjunction with She-K Brickhouse Lingerie. Just before Connor leaves for his next appointment, Terrence stops him and asks him if the clinic is really safe for athletes and he’s not getting strung into performance enhancing steroids. Connor tells Terrence he’s not, otherwise he’d be a dumbass.
When Dani gets to her office, she finds Blake Bridges there, a pompous boxer who's got his feet up on her desk. He’s worried because he’s gone glove shy since getting knocked out really bad a few weeks earlier. He needs to get over this or else he won’t be able to support his wife, his ex-wife, or his three kids. Dani decides to visit Blake at the boxing training facility. He’s got to get over his glove shyness, and Dani tries to help him by lacing up and punching him in the head. It works, he’s not afraid of her punches. On the way out of the facility, Blake kisses her. She pushes him away and he apologizes, saying he misread her signals, of which there were none.
That night, Nico throws the FBI agent that took Dani in up against his car, threatening him for taking Dani in. “You don’t want me as an enemy,” he tells the agent. Later, Nico’s tech guy tries to hack into V3 again, but he doesn’t make it through this time.
After spending the night with Connor a couple days earlier, Bruce is back discussing overthrowing V3 with Troy. He’s given her a wireless “wire” to put on Connor. That night, the Bruce and Connor are having a quiet evening in again when she starts asking questions about V3 secrets. Connor stays tight lipped, but asks her instead if she called the Feds on V3. Apparently, she did. When she worked as Connor’s assistant, she saw some weird accounting activity and didn’t tell anyone. Instead, she kept the information to herself. It’s Bruce’s turn to ask Connor a question - what does he know about the accountant?
Terrence is really nervous about the experimental treatment. That night, Nico gets a hold of Terrence. He needs his help. The next day, Terrence shows up at the clinic, gets prepared by the nurse, who leaves, saying the doctor will be in shortly. The doctor shows up a few minutes later, only to find Terrence is gone. He’s taken one of the bottles of the experimental medication and gives it to Nico, who then takes it to the FBI.
That night Dani wakes up to a pounding at her door, and when she gets there she finds someone has left an envelope with pictures of Blake kissing Dani. Dani goes to Connor with the pictures - she’s worried someone is trying to blackmail her, specifically Connor because he’s the one who sends her all of her clients. But Connor didn’t send Blake to Dani. Connor suspects Troy sent him her way - but after calling him into the office, Connor finds that he didn’t. Connor decides to remove Blake from V3 entirely and satisfied, Dani leaves his office. Connor holds Troy back to ask him about meeting with the V3 board without informing him. Troy insists it was a scheduling issue, but Connor doesn’t trust that.
Troy is blaming Bruce for screwing things up - and Bruce finds out that Troy has nothing on Connor. Bruce can’t believe Troy is so stupid.
Paloma shows up at Dani’s doorstep. She tells Dani she’s being blackmailed by Troy, and that finally, Paloma has the evidence against Troy. She shows Dani the check Troy gave her for keeping her mouth shut. Dani and Paloma take the check to Connor, who fires Troy on the spot.
Nico gives the FBI the medication, and the FBI gives him what he wanted - freedom to go to Dallas, Texas, and freedom for Alex Careles from ICE.
Connor offers Dani whatever she wants for helping with the attempted overthrow of V3. For Dani, Connor gives Paloma her job back as Dani’s assistant.
That night, Connor goes to Bruce for some TLC. Before the TLC starts, though, Bruce plays back some audio for Connor - Troy talking about everything he’s done.
Nico shows up at Dani’s doorstep and tries to get her to quit V3. He’s worried about her and what danger V3 could get her into - especially with the clinic. Nico tells her he’s leaving, and Dani tells her she can’t - and they share a very passionate kiss.
This episode ends with Blake standing on a dark street - only to have a limo pull up next to him. The window rolls down and Connor appears. He hands Blake a payment and a plane ticket to Aruba and asks him who gave it to him. Blake answers, “Troy Cutler.”
The season finale of Necessary Roughness airs next Wednesday at 10pm/9c on USA.
