Witches, Voodoo, and detention all featured in the new installment of the hit-show, American Horror Story: Coven.

FX released the first in a series of teasers for the upcoming season of the miniseries. In the teaser a small cat walks through one side of an empty white room to a ghostly rendition of "House of the Rising Sun." Upon camera movement, the other side of the room is revealed to have women standing (and some hovering) with their face against the wall, as if in detention. Eery music follows and the premiere date shows.

As previously reported, this season of AHS will be about witches in New Orleans and will focus on themes of oppression against minorities and also on mother and daughter relationships.

According to Vulture executive producer Ryan Murphy revealed there will be a feud between Salem witches and those from New Orleans. He said, "The witches of Salem, the smart ones, got out very early and they were none of the ones who were burned. They all gravitated toward New Orleans, where they now live. It really is about the witches of Salem pitted against voodoo witches. It's been a centuries-long feud and it's up to Jessica Lange and Angela Bassett('s characters) to mend the fence."

The show will draw on real historical figures of the city. Entertainment Weekly
reports that AHS: Coven will jump back and forth between the present-day and and 1830s New Orleans. Angela Bassett is playing Marie Laveau, "the voodoo queen of New Orleans" while Kathy Bates plays actual historical serial killer Madame LaLaurie.

Stars Jessica Lange, Evan Peters, and Frances Conroy are a few of the stars returning for the third season in addition to Taissa Farmiga, Lily Rabe, Emma Roberts, and Kathy Bates.

American Horror Story: Coven premieres Wednesday, October 9 on FX.
