I’ve got nothing this week! I had a whole rant written about people who use the word “Vintage” in the title for a comic book on ebay that ends up being from the late 90’s and it turns out it’s my misunderstanding of the word. In spite of the fact that every time I see that my blood pressure goes up, it’s a legitimate title with just a little tweaking. There goes my rant. At the very least, I’m admitting my failings rather than posting my thoughts for the world to judge without knowing what the hell I’m talking about. That in itself is an entirely different rant as both my wife and I are working hard to teach our children that Google is not the be-all and end-all of knowledge. They should seek out information and learn to identify valid information or accurate source material. Basically, they should know what they’re talking about.
This week I clearly didn’t. Let’s now stick to the comics that are scheduled to ship this week starting with DC Comics Fables #132, $2.99, written by Bill Willingham with art by Mark Buckingham and Steve Leialoha with a cover illustrated by Joao Ruas. Rose Red is inspired to gather her own knights and re-form the Round Table right on the Fables' farm. This series is really just so entertaining. I sell one copy of the monthly comic and four copies of the hc collections. I think more people should be reading this. It’s one of the best comics published right now and I dearly think it deserves more attention than it gets. I’ve never heard anyone say they didn’t like it and everyone I’ve talked to who has read it says it’s very good….
Superman Unchained #3, $3.99, by Scott Snyder and Jim Lee. Here’s another book that I hear people rave about. This one I’m actually holding out for the hardcover when it finally comes…
X-(Wo)Men #4, $3.99, started with a bang for Marvel Comics and now that the first story arc is done, the X-Females try to determine the future of their makeshift team and Jubilee comes to grips with her burdens and responsibilities. Written by Brian Wood featuring art by David Lopez, this book still holds a little promise for me…
X-O Manowar #16, $3.99, by Robert Venditti and Lee Garbett continues down the “Road To Unity” and if you’re not reading or experiencing the excitement that Valiant Entertainment is bringing regularly every month, it’s not too late to get on board…
Bloodshot #0, $3.99, by Matt Kindt and Criss Cross declassifies the origin of Bloodshot…
And there are plenty more that are not listed. For a more complete list, feel free to visit your local comic store or favorite site. If you’re interested in more of what I think, follow me on Twitter at Mycomicstore001 or like my Facebook page.
Michael R. Murray is a full time Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service who is looking forward to the Bing Con in Springfield, MA this coming weekend. As a local talent show it’s exciting to see comic cons return to an area that used to host a handful. San Diego, New York, and Boston are exciting but there’s something to be said for staying in our own backyard.
