Nearly twenty years after getting released, the movie Outbreak is getting remade for television.

Deadline is reporting that NBC has given a pilot production commitment to the hour long series based on the 1995 hit movie.

John Wells and Jack Orman wrote the script. This marks the first time that Wells and Orman will return to NBC since they produced the hit show ER.

According to Broadway World, the show will be a medical thriller that follows a team attempting to contain a deadly airborne virus before it spreads across the globe.

Wells and Orman have both stayed busy since their days working on ER. Wells has been an executive producer on Shameless, The West Wing and Southland as well as the miniseries Mildred Pierce. He also is producing a couple movies that have yet to come out, including Love & Mercy, which chronicles the life of Beach Boy’s musician Brian Wilson. Orman produced Men of a Certain Ageand also created the short-lived series Pan Am.

Back in 1995 when Outbreak was released it became a big hit that year and went to gross over $190 million.
