David Schwimmer, best known for his role as Ross on Friends, got a hateful message spray painted on his East Village, NYC townhouse that is undergoing renovations.

"Ross is not cool" was spray painted on a construction fence, with an arrow pointing to his home.

According to E! Online, locals in Schwimmer’s neighborhood are not happy with the fact that the actor purchased the home, which was a preserved 1852 townhouse, only to demolish it and start from scratch.

The blog EV Grieve has been documented its demolition, and even notes that its listing described it by saying "this home with its magical Tuscan inspired garden proves to be one of the finest East Village houses available."

The blog also notes that Schwimmer’s permits say, "side masonry walls to remain,” but locals are outraged because it was completely demolished.

Gawker reports that the words “Ross is not cool” were quickly painted over the next day, so they’re no longer there.

Schwimmer played Ross Gellar on the long-running NBC series from 1994-2004.
