In my opinion, talent shows are usually very amusing during auditions, and then get slightly less fun until they hit this stage. Seeing some of the more ridiculous acts during auditions, plus seeing the really amazing acts for the first time, makes them entertaining, but after that, you have to deal with acts who didn’t deserve to make it through, but are now being taken seriously. By the time you get to the top 24, at least for the most part, most of the bad acts are weeded out. Of course, when America manages to get one of those bad acts out, they may get brought back by a terribly used Wild Card (why, Mel B, why?). But other than that, tonight featured a pretty solid slate of acts, most of which did very well. I think it will be interesting to see who America votes through to the next round, considering that there were so many people who were viewed as favorites performing tonight. Here are what I thought of tonight’s acts on America’s Got Talent. Don’t agree with me? Talk about it in the comments below.

12. Tone the Chiefrocca

What an absolute waste of a Wild Card, especially in a season where there were so many deserving acts who didn’t make it through to the semi-finals.

11. Innovative Force

I think that the problem that most children’s groups have is that, unlike adults, their instructors are worried about hurting their feelings. They don’t exclude any of the girls, and try to make sure that everyone has a part, which often leads to a less than stellar performance. That was their problem tonight—there was just too much going on, and not all of the girls were as good as the rest.

10. Duo Resonance

By using the box for the majority of the performance, they took away what my favorite part of their act is—them working together, holding each other up and doing acrobatic poses using each other as support. This week was missing that (for the most part), and it just didn’t captivate me as much.

9. Jonathan Allen

He took a song that I have heard and liked before and managed to make it unrecognizable to me, and not in a good way. He didn’t do what he needed to do to beat Forte tonight.

8. Red Panda

I’m torn with her, because I really like what she does, but I feel like there is not enough variety in her act for her to keep someone entertained for an entire Las Vegas show.

7. Cami Bradley

I really liked her act as she was singing, but afterwards I pretty much immediately forgot about it, and that’s not a good thing. She sounds wonderful, but she isn’t someone who I would insist that my friends go see.

6. Forte

Something about their performance just didn’t click for me tonight. I think it was that they were singing together for most of the time, rather than highlighting individual performers occasionally, as they did in their other performances.

5. Angela Hoover

I think her material is getting better, but it’s still not very solid. Her impressions are spot-on, though, and I wouldn’t mind seeing her again.

4. Collins Key

He didn’t do as well in his performance tonight as he could have, and I think it was mostly because of the time constraints. It was still enjoyable, but I’m not sure it was enough, especially with a slew of singers who America loves to vote through up against him.

3. Dave Fenley

I’m a sucker for a Spice Girls song, and you can’t deny that he didn’t do something original. I felt like he could have benefitted from a more decorated stage, but the minimalism did keep the attention on him, unlike some acts, which is good.

2. Catapult Entertainment

There was less of a story told this time, but it was still beautiful and I thought that the images themselves were more beautiful than any of their other performances.

1. Taylor Williamson

I just want to hug him. He’s just so cute, and funny, and awkward, and I absolutely love it.
