Tonight was the last live show of this years America’s Got Talent quarterfinals. From what I understand, unlike in past years, there will be no wildcard show. Instead, each judge will pick one act who will automatically go on to compete in the semi-finals. I’m not sure any of tonight’s acts will be worthy of a wildcard spot, but there were certainly four or five acts who belong in the next round. Most of the acts tonight did not live up to their full potential though, and I was disappointed in the majority of tonight’s performances. Some acts (2Unique) I was expecting not to like, while others (Selena Mackenzie Gordon, Virginia State University Gospel Chorale) didn’t do all that they could do. I’m excited to move onto the semi-finals next week, because I feel like, for the most part, America did a good job of narrowing down the acts this season. We’ll see if that trend continues with the results from this week.

12. 2Unique

This act absolutely does not belong in the top sixty. I thought they were worse than Tummy Talk.

11. Selena Mackenzie Gordon

Her act felt short and boring. She fell flat, despite her beautiful voice.

10. John Wing

He seemed so wooden. I think it was on purpose, but I found it off-putting. Some of his jokes were entertaining, though, and I think he did an okay job.

9. Virginia State University Gospel Chorale

I thought they were good, but they didn’t seem on par with the other acts who have gone through in this competition.

8. Melody Caballero

I’m not sure if the producers decide the stage design or if the acts do, but whoever designed Melody’s stage did a wonderful job. She did too—she had the skill of someone who was much older than her, and even though her act wasn’t particularly exciting, it was impressive. Also, even though Melody did very well, is anyone else upset that Red Panda isn’t performing? She was someone I was really looking forward too.

7. Sprice

You would think that the guy who was filming his introduction package would have helped him out with carrying all those boxes… But anyways, he did all that you can do as far as a Rube Goldberg machine goes when you only have one commercial break to set it up. I thought it was very good, but I’m not sure if it’s something America would vote for.

6. Sam Johnson

I feel like it is really hard to grasp the magnitude of an act like this when you’re watching it on television rather than being there. Because of that, I’m not sure that Sam will make it through to the next round, even though he is very deserving of the spot.

5. Dave Fenley

Maybe it’s just that this is more the type of music that I listen to, or maybe it’s just the laid back and nice attitude that Dave has, but I enjoyed him a lot more than other singers.

4. Ruby and Jonas

These two are the lesser pair of the two child ballroom dancing teams.

3. D’Angelo and Amanda

That being said, both of these pairs were absolutely amazing, and I could easily see them both taking a spot in the semi-finals.

2. Duo Resonance

To be honest, I don’t think that America will vote them through, but that’s not something that I’m going to be happy about. It was such a beautiful act—I was mesmerized.

1. Catapult Entertainment

They impressed me with their audition, and they impressed me even more here. The act was moving, beautiful, and precise. In my opinion, it was definitely a million dollar act.
