In the opening moments, Oliver and Gail are responding to a domestic disturbance call. The wife had heard a gunshot and thought her husband Bill had shot a raccoon, something they'd fought about before. He denies it, and Gail tells Oliver that none of the neighbors heard any shots. Oliver dismisses the couple but is alarmed by a bad small in the area, which Bill says is always there. Oliver then notices that the utility meter on a nearby house has been tampered with. He removes a board from a basement window, revealing a mass supply of marijuana. Backup soon arrives.
Sam is shown coming out of the house with a kid in custody whom Oliver caught sneaking out the back door. The suspect, Chuck, acts like a wisecracking stoner. Oliver brings Chuck into the station, where Chloe is reluctantly the booking officer. Chuck hits on her and says something silly and Oliver says, "he speaks your language," as he hands him off.
Cut to Andy addressing Nick stiffly and formally. At his puzzled response, she says, "I thought we agreed this is how we were going to talk to each other in public." Nick makes a joke about it and Andy looks worriedly towards Gail, saying she doesn't want to hang out again until Gail knows about them. Andy insists she has to be the one to tell her since Gail is her friend.
Elsewhere in the station, Chris is back with 15 Division but he's struggling to cope with recent events. Dove is delighted to have him back and responds to Chris's frustration simply by joking and insisting that they have to celebrate that night.
Shoot to Traci telling Steve she's not looking to date anyone when he asks her why she's ignoring his calls. Somewhat dejected but playing it cool, Steve walks away.
Then, as Sam is getting ready to end his shift, Oliver invites him, Dove and Chris to come with him for the weekend to see the cabin he's just bought. Chris turns down the invite, but Dove insists they're both in, taking the invite as a sign that they are now equals with the other officers.
The show returns to a nervous Andy approaching Gail at the coffee station. Andy says "I'm just really happy that we're friends. I never want to do anything to jeopardize that and if I did I'd want to talk about it." Gail encourages her to talk about it, but Andy just hugs her and walks away.
Cut to Oliver and the boys heading out of the station as their peers are being asked to stay late to cover for sick officers. They leave anyway, but Sam almost stops when he sees Nick and Andy together.
Andy and Gail arrive at the grow house and find Traci there, working as the sole detective on the case. Soon, a member of the forensics team discovers a body.
Meanwhile, the guys arrive at Oliver's cabin, which only has two bedrooms; Sam takes the couch and Oliver tells Chris and Dove that they're in the bunk beds. Dove asks why they automatically have to take the bunk beds, but Oliver doesn't respond seriously. Things get worse when they realize there is no power. Oliver gets all macho and says they'll fix the generator, and sends the rookies out to get firewood.
Back at the station, Chuck admits to Traci that he is a dealer but, he says he only picks up from the "dead guy" every few weeks. He claims all he knows about him is his first name: Ivan.
As Nick and Chloe are following up leads, they take turns saying nicknames of marijuana. When a disbelieving Nick Googles one Chloe says, she complains that no one in 15 Division takes her seriously. Then she makes a joke to Traci that doesn't land and her spirit is even more dampened. Traci tells them the grow house is clear and wants an officer to return to the scene with her, directing the request to Nick. To Traci's surprise and Chloe's delight, he encourages Traci to take Chloe instead. What a nice guy!.
At the grow house, Gail tells Andy to spit out what she has to say. Andy relents, saying: "I'm so sorry, something happened," but the conversation halts when Gail burns her wrist picking up industrial drain cleaner. The two head to the hospital.
During Chris and Dove's quest to find wood, Dove thoroughly complains about being treated as an errand boy. Inside the cabin, Oliver tells Sam that he spotted the cabin on the way home from an outing with Celery and immediately knew that he had to buy it, in keeping with his new mantra of "less thinking, more doing."
Cut to Traci and Chloe at the grow house. Chloe has a clumsy accident, which doesn't help her case of being taken seriously, but it's a harmless accident. Traci says there was no sign of forced entry, so Ivan knew the killer, but he was shot in the back so he never saw it coming. Steve then arrives with the Guns and Gangs unit, explaining that the Portuguese gang runs the area and a small time dealer couldn't be moving the amount of product in the house on their own. He basically takes over the case and Traci is annoyed, thinking that he's getting in the way of her first solo homicide just because she rejected him. She decides to continue working on the case independently, and convinces someone from Forensics to give the results of a finger print test on a bullet casing to her first.
Back at the cabin, Sam and Oliver give up trying to fix the generator when Sam gets mildly electrocuted. Chris and Dove, also unsuccessful, give up when Chris rolls his ankle, but then find themselves lost.
Elsewhere, Gail demands that Andy finish her sentence. Andy begins, but is again interrupted; this time it's because Gail, high on pain killers, is unable to focus. (The drugged up Gail was so amusing, she was actually likable in this scene).
At the station, Chloe tells Traci that the house is registered to Ivan. Steve then confronts Traci about working behind his back, and challenges her in a way, saying she can do whatever, but he has a head start. Nick soon reports that the prints on the bullet casings belong to Gil, a guy with known gang affiliations. Traci heads out to find him, and Nick joins her instead of Chloe, to Chloe's chagrin.
Meanwhile, in the woods, Chris breaks down at Dove's continued ranting. He says he's sick of Dove's complaining and vents about how devastated he is that he turned his life upside down, sacrificed everything to leave the city to do the right thing and his life just got worse. He says he didn't want to come to the cabin and Dove calls him out for not being more assertive about what he wants. He says that Chris is so busy making decisions for the sake of other people that he doesn't know what he himself wants. Dove then calls Chris spineless and implies that he's forgotten that it's okay to do things that actually make himself happy. Chris doesn't respond but says that when he was in Timmins, nobody treated him like a rookie because nobody thought he was one, including himself. Then Chris hears a car, signaling a nearby highway, so they head off in that direction.
In the cabin, Oliver asks Sam if he is right to be with Celery. Sam says yes and Oliver asks how he knows. Sam responds, "I see you two together and I know she's right for you," to which Oliver responds, "like you and McNally [Andy]." Sam agrees, and then realizes Oliver tricked him into admitting his feelings. Sam tries to turn the conversation back on Oliver, saying that he shouldn't mope. Oliver fires back, saying that Sam has been moping ever since he became a detective and Andy left. Then Oliver points out that Marlo probably knows that Sam isn't truly happy. Sam admits he misses Andy and that he thinks about a real future with her, and Oliver urges him to tell Marlo.
Cut back to the hospital. Andy finally blurts out that she slept with Nick. The still-high Gail tells her that she already knew. Andy is taken aback and Gail says, "...I can cry, or I can tell you how right I think you and Nick are for each other and then I can gag over my own words..." After more snarky words from Gail, Andy says she just wants to talk about it, but Gail kicks her out.
Nick brings Gil in to the station but apparently, he only speaks Portuguese. Traci tells Chloe to request an interpreter, but soon Chloe reveals that she's fluent in Portuguese, to Traci's pleasant surprise.
After a short conversation with him in the interrogation room, Chloe gets up and says she's going to make calls to his Portuguese gang buddies and tell them that Gil gave her their phone numbers. Gil responds, in perfect English, "do that and my family is dead." Traci is shocked and Chloe tells her she knew he spoke English because he used the English phrase "barking up the wrong tree." Gil surrenders, and explains that last week his boss called to say they were taking over the grow house and was ordered to take out Ivan. At the last second though, Gil chickened out and he doesn't know who finished the job, but says he was supposed to call a certain number afterwards. Steve joins Traci and Chloe outside the interrogation room and Chloe calls the phone.
Nick is holding Chuck's ringing phone as he leads him towards the exit. Chuck is walking hurriedly towards the door as Chloe calls again and Traci stops them just in time. She answers Chuck's phone, hearing Chloe on the other line. Nick re-arrests Chuck and brings him back into interrogation. Steve comes in and shows him evidence that a week before Ivan paid for the house, Chuck took the exact same amount out of his account. They've concluded that Chuck and Ivan were partners but when Chuck wanted to work with the Portuguese to expand the business and Ivan resisted, he decided to get rid of him. Chuck sticks to the wise-guy burnout act until Traci points out that when they get DNA of the killer from Ivan's body, they'll match it with the DNA on Chuck's half-eaten bar. At this, he demands a lawyer.
Elsewhere, Chris and Dove return to the cabin and Chris begins fixing the generator. Dove takes advantage of the situation and asks who's grabbing their beers. The senior officers concede.
At the station, Traci praises Chloe for her work and is further impressed when she learns Chloe speaks several other languages fluently.
Steve congratulates Traci on her first successful homicide case, and puts his name in her phone, in response to her earlier excuse that she didn't answer his calls because she didn't recognize his number.
Meanwhile, Gail is surprised to find Andy still waiting for her at the hospital. Andy asks if she and Nick have her blessing. At this, Gail finally breaks down and calls out Andy for breaking the girl code. She then says, "That's your punishment...You miss perfect, never-hurt-a-fly McNally are the bad guy. And it is just killing you." At that, she walks away to meet up with her "real friend," Holly.
A distraught Andy then meets Nick, kisses him immediately, and says "Ok, just had to make sure." Nick questions her and she says "that it was worth it," explaining that telling Gail didn't go well. Nick asks what she's thinking and she responds, "I'll tell you in the morning."
