Each year Creator Ryan Murphy focuses on a different, chilling topic and this season, it will be about the power and existence of witches. Just like the plots, Jessica Lange’s character changes every season. She has gone from a vengeful neighbor to deranged nun and now in American Horror Story: Coven, Lange will be a powerful witch. What’s really interesting about this season is that it will alternate time settings, incorporating many different stories and leaves a lot of room for character development. However, according to E!Online , she doesn’t know her character that well yet. She says, “We move back and forth in time, so it encompasses a lot of different stories. The truth is I've shot two days so far…I don't know who the character is yet. I really don't."
In an interview with Vulture, Murphy describes Lange’s character in a little more depth. He says, “"The witches of Salem, the smart ones, got out very early and they were none of the ones who were burned," Murphy explained. "They all gravitated toward New Orleans, where they now live, and every generation has a great witch who has the most powers of them all, and that's called the Supreme. Ms. Jessica Lange is the Supreme."
Other stars confirmed to join are Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, Taissa Farmiga, Emma Roberts, and Denis O’Hare.
