While she’s been promoting The Spectacular Now, actress Shailene Woodley has been seen sporting long, blond locks, but those are about to be gone, since she’s going to start work on The Fault In Our Stars, in which she plays a cancer patient. Woodley has decided to donate her hair to a good cause.
The Fault In Our Stars was written by John Green and centers on a teenage cancer patient named Hazel Grace Lancaster, who falls in love with another sick patient. Since she’ll have to cut her famous hair for the film, Green announced on Tumblr and YouTube that Woodley has decided to donate her hair to Children With Hair Loss. The organization makes wigs for children who are being treated for cancer.
Green wrote that Woodley’s mother has also signed on to donate and he’s urging others to do the same. “I want to be clear that this was entirely Shai’s idea. (I don’t even think the studio knows about it.) I hope if you’re able, you’ll consider joining Shai in donating,” he wrote on Tubmlr.
Woodley has been a rising star since appearing in The Descendants with George Clooney and can currently be seen in The Spectacular Now, which is getting great reviews. She is also taking part in another possible franchise with Divergent, which opens in March 2014. The Fault in Our Stars will co-star Nat Wolff and is expected to hit theaters next year.
