The new season of Survivor hasn’t even aired yet and the first episode already proved full of twists and turns.

Entertainment Weekly reports that the day before filming, RC Saint Armor, from Survivor Philippians and her father Craig were noticeably absent from the group. The remained of the Survivor: Blood vs. Water group had no idea where the missing father-daughter duo was.

Moments later Candice Woodcock from Cook Island and her husband John arrived, still unaware of what happened to Armor and her father.

Jeff Probst, the host of Survivor, explained exactly what happened in an interview with EW.

“We had our 10 pairs out here and we were good to go,” Probst explained, “We got out here and RC and her father Craig — who we loved and wanted back on the show, RC for obvious reasons. Her dad is just as good. But when our doctors were checking them, medically his blood pressure was very high. And it was so high that we had to pull him from the game.”

Probst went on to explain that the next issue was getting Candice and her husband from Washington D.C. to the Philippians in time for filming to begin.

“I emailed immediately to [casting director Lynne Spillman] and said ‘they’re out, we need them’. Within, I don’t know, an hour later, we knew what flight they were on, what time they were gonna arrive, we had the chopper over there to pick them up, It’s a whirlwind, but that’s Survivor.”

As we previously reported, CBS announced the cast of season 27 just last week.

Survivor Blood vs. Water airs September 18.
