It’s that time of year again and Tallulah’s dream has come true. She is going to play a mouse in The Nutcracker, in a real theater with real dancers. It’s her dream to be a mouse and perform this very special role.
But the more she trains and tries to stand out, the more she realizes that she’s missing out. She doesn’t get to Christmas tree shop with her family or go to holiday parties. She is too busy going to rehearsal and doing her best to stand out, that she is missing out on so much.
When opening night comes and she comes out of the clock, she is overwhelmed by the amount of people in the audience and the scary music, but she has to remind herself that she is a scary mouse and will do her best to stand out to be the scariest mouse.
But things take a turn for the worst. Tallulah ends up stepping on the tail of another mouse dancer and causes a massive pile in the middle of the stage. She gets so embarrassed but she is able to finish her dance, even though the crowd laughed.
After the dance, she rushed off stage in a panic. She was so embarrassed that she hides and cries in the backroom. She wasn’t the best like she thought, instead she was the worst dancer.
As she is in the back room, Clara and the Sugar Plum Fairy come into the room and comfort her while sharing stories of their mistakes on stage. These stories cheer up Tallulah.
But if there is one thing that a great dancer does, is that they keep on dancing and that’s what she did. Tallulah proves that she is able to overcome her mistakes and keep dancing. No matter what happens, Tallulah knows that she is going to be a real dancer one day, soon enough.
The book is the perfect gift to give and read during the holidays to young children. I can't wait to read this to my cousins this holiday.
