While Time Warner Cable will not be carrying Al Jazeera America when the network premieres next week, the two sides are reportedly in talks to bring Al Jazeera America to TWC subscribers.

In January, when Al Jazeera decided to buy Current TV, the left-leaning news network co-created by Al Gore, TWC said in a statement that it would drop Current immediately. But, according to The Huffington Post, a TWC spokeswoman said that they are in talks with Al Jazeera to bring its new network to subscribers.

Al Jazeera has been hard at work attracting top journalists to fill important positions at its new U.S.-centric network, including former CNN anchor Soledad O’Brien. The company confirmed last month that it will have 12 bureaus around the country at launch, located in New York, Los Angeles, Washington DC, chicago and in other cities.

Al Jazeera America is set to launch on Aug. 20.

Of course, while these talks continue, TWC’s dispute with CBS is still going on, so there’s a chance that TWC subscribers may see Al Jazeera America before CBS. Ironically, TheWrap is reporting that during the first full week of the TWC blackout, CBS actually saw viewership up to 5.51 million viewers and averaged a 1.2 18-49 rating, the best of any network.
