Last year’s summer blockbuster, The Avengers, had people craving for more superhero action.
After having iconic scenes such as his fight scene with the Incredible Hulk, fans were anxious to see what kind of trouble Loki would come up with next. However, the fans will be disappointed as Tom Hiddleston has confirmed that Loki will not be returned for the sequel The Avengers 2: Age of Ultron.
According to Total Film, his reason for leaving is, “I don’t think there’s anything else Loki could contribute to The Avengers, narratively. Joss gave me so many wonderful things to do in that first film that we’d only be trying to repeat ourselves, and probably less well in the second one.”
Fans do not have to be disappointed for long though. Even though Hiddleston will not be in the second Avengers movie, he appears once again as Loki in the upcoming Thor: The Dark World.
When Entertainment Weekly asked how Loki will be portrayed in the new Thor film, Hiddleston says, “It’s a new development. Another trick, another poker game for the god of mischief. And he plays it well.”
Thor: The Dark World will be released Nov. 8, 2013 and Avengers: Age of Ultron will released next year.
