Last week, one of television's most popular talent judges, who is both hated and loved for his brutal honesty and no-mercy critiquing style, became engulfed in a scandal. News broke that Simon Cowell, a former judge on American Idol and current judge on The X Factor, has allegedly fathered a child with Lauren Silverman, the wife of his good friend Andrew Silverman. The New York Daily News reported that the Silverman's marriage was on the rocks before Cowell came into the picture, but the illicit affair has pushed Andrew Silverman, a wealthy real-estate mogul, to file for divorce from Lauren, a socialite. Cowell hasn't denied anything, but the news supposedly took him by surprise. The television personality is notorious for being a bachelor who's not a big fan of commitment or having children. As he and the Silvermans dodge (or make use of) intense publicity, let's take a look at ten other celebrities whose bedroom antics have led to love-child scandals. After all, infidelity and scandal are not uncommon in the lives of the rich and famous.

10. Matthew Knowles
Super star singer Beyonce Knowles was enraged and devastated when news broke that her father and manager, Matthew Knowles, had had an affair that resulted in a love child. According to a 2011 New York Post story, the affair lasted 18 months while Matthew was still married to Beyonce's mother Tina, and it was with a woman 20 years his junior: 38-year-old Alexsandra Wright. DNA tests proved Matthew was the father of Wright's son Nixon, and he was ordered to pay child support on an interim basis. The scandal led to Tina filing for divorce, and led to high tensions between Beyonce and her father, much to the chagrin of her record label. Matthew has since married Gena Avery.

9. Clark Gable
Legendary actor Clark Gable, best known for his role in Gone with the Wind, received plenty of attention from women in his day— from fans and fellow actresses alike. One of those women was Loretta Young, an actress with whom he had an affair while he was married to Maria "Ria" Franklin Prentiss Lucas Langham. ABC News reported that although Young was known for her "proper, almost puritanically prim attitudes," a biography about the Oscar-winning actress, entitled Forever Young: The Life, Loves, and Enduring Faith of a Hollywood Legend, it is revealed that she and Gable had a tryst following the filming of 1935's Call of the Wild. The affair resulted in a love child, Judy Lewis, whom Young had long claimed was her "adopted" daughter. The truth was kept hidden until Young—winner of an Oscar award for Best Actress in The Farmer's Daughter—disclosed it just before she died of ovarian cancer in August of 2000.

8. Eric Clapton
This famous musician had a bumpy ride in several aspects of his life, one of them being love. According to a story on Today.com, Clapton had an affair with—and later married—Pattie Boyd, who was first married to his good friend George Harrison, of the Beatles. In 1986, whilst married to Boyd, he fathered a child with two different women: a son with Lori Del Santo, and a daughter with Yvonne Kelly. Clapton's marriage to Boyd did not survive his adultery.

7. Steven Tyler
The Aerosmith lead singer, and current co-judge of American Idol, is famous for his crazy rocker past. So it's no surprise one of his adventures produced a love child. In this case, it was a fling with fashion model Bebe Buell and it resulted in a daughter he wasn't aware of until much later. The child was now-actress Liv Tyler, and according to a biography on IMDB, she grew up thinking Todd Rundgren was her father, until meeting Tyler's daughter Mia, and noticing strong resemblances. She was then told the truth and today, she and Steven appear to have a natural, healthy father-daughter relationship.

6. Michael Lohan
The scandal-riddled Lohan family was hit with another tabloid-ready headline when a woman came forward claiming Michael, father of troubled actress Lindsay Lohan, had fathered a child with her in 1995, while he was married to Dina Lohan. In 2012, TMZ reported that after several attempts by the woman, Kristi Horn, to get Michael to pay child support, he agreed to submit to a DNA test for an episode of Trisha Goddard. The results came back positive and thus, Michael was forced to accept and embrace his newfound daughter Ashley, while the rest of the Lohan family was presented with another thing to add to their list of publicly aired dirty laundry.

5. Reverend Jesse Jackson
In 2001 Reverend Jackson admitted to cheating on his wife with a staffer Karin Stanford, an affair that resulted in a love child. According to an ABC News story about Karin Stanford's first television interview, the affair lasted four years and she had never asked for money to keep the information private. She discovered she was pregnant with Jackson's child in 1998 but it wasn't until sometime in 1999 that Jackson found out. He built a relationship with his daughter Ashley, though it has been strained since the news became public. His relationship with his wife survived despite the scandal.

4. Eddie Murphy
Murphy isn't a stranger to a little drama, and one of the biggest dramas of his life involved an alleged love child with Spice Girl Melanie Brown, then 32. When she first claimed he fathered her daughter Angel Iris, Murphy adamantly denied that the child, born in April of 2007, was his. But according to a report in People, Murphy, 49, finally took a DNA test in June 11 of the same year, which proved he was indeed the father. He and Brown had been in a relationship at the time of conception, though they'd since broken up and he did not contact her after the birth of their daughter. Today, Murphy does not seem to have a relationship with Angel, and Brown is still upset about the whole ordeal. It's not surprising, though, since Murphy doesn't have a very wholesome track record: he has eight children with four different women, he is a divorcee, and gets around in the dating world.

According to a New York Post report, Marino was married at the time and when he found about the girl, Chloe, he paid Savatterre off to keep it a secret. He has given Savatterre money to help raise Chloe, and has a limited, but existing relationship with his daughter. His marriage is still intact, and Savatterre has since married and had another child.

2. John Edwards
Politicians and scandal are as much a natural combination as peanut butter and jelly. They cheat, hire hookers, play dirty, and are sometimes guilty of more than one offense. John Edwards, for example, had an affair and fathered an illegitimate child. According to an ABC News report in 2010, the former Senator and presidential hopeful finally admitted he was indeed the father of Frances Quinn, a girl born from an affair with campaign cinematographer Rielle Hunter. He had denied he was the father and tried everything to avoid having the truth revealed, or facing it. Edwards' wife even had cancer at the time, yet she stood by his side, though she has since passed away and he has since continued a relationship with Hunter. The politician remains disgraced but appears in the press from time to time.

1. Arnold Schwarzenegger
He was an actor-turned politician (governor of California). Those are two careers that do not exactly breed wholesome men and successful relationships. So it's not all that shocking that Schwarzenegger became engulfed in a scandal. In 2011 news broke that about 14 years prior, he had a child with one of his housekeepers. In an ABC News report in 2011, Mildred Patricia Baena was identified as the woman with whom he had the affair that resulted in a son. The revelation wasn't the first time Schwarzenegger faced scandal. While filming Collateral Damage and beginning his campaign for political candidacy, women claimed he'd groped them or had relations with them. The baby scandal caused his wife, Maria Shriver, with whom he has four children, to file for divorce, but the most recent reports say Schwarzenegger is still fighting for their marriage.
