On this week’s episode of Twisted, Jo and Lacey dealt with their falling out with Danny, Danny tried to fight to stay in school and a video went viral.
This is the episode that I have been waiting for. Hands down, this was the best episode of the season. It was filled with relationship drama, emotional drama and it was perfectly twisted. This was the episode, to me, that is a direct example of what Twisted is all about.
The episode began with Danny bringing Lacey and Jo together for a meeting. Obviously, they both didn’t want to meet with him but they did anyway. Lacey asked him why they should believe him and wondered who would leave it in his locker. Danny tried to explain but the girls had already made up their minds. And, it seemed that the friendship was terminated.
If you remember from last episode, it ended with Rico getting an email with the video of Lacey and Danny hooking up. In this episode, we found out the man behind the mask (literally) and it was… Doug?
To be completely honest, I was shocked. I expected it to be Cole or Archie. But it was mathlete Doug and his creepy filming. He said that he found the mask and had a camera so he decided to record it. Yuck.
Rico, who really shined this episode, told Doug to delete the video and not to let it get out. He also said that Doug broke the mathlete code of ethics. (Can rule number one by that there are no rules in math club?)
Meanwhile, Danny is walking to class when he runs into his old soccer coach. If you remember, Coach Chandler covered for Danny when Cole was poisoned with mothballs. Danny said he didn’t do it and the coach simply told him to quit.
Someone found out that the coach “covered” for Danny and he got fired for it. Danny maintained his innocence and the coach said that Danny was in for a world of hurt or something. The coach left the scene with a box of his stuff and Danny had the same sad face that he kept on for the entire episode.
At the Masterson household, they were sitting at the table. Kyle said that he felt bad for Danny because there was no evidence against him in the mothball case. Jo questioned why her father suddenly felt bad for him and questioned if Danny was innocent. Tess asked Jo if she was ok after Danny told her about the necklace. Kyle told Jo that there was more to the case than just the necklace.
All right, here comes my bad cop moment scale. Kyle gets one point. He was talking about the case to his family over the dinner table. I mean, I don’t know anything about being a cop but something isn’t cool about talking about a murder case- and the details- with your family. Didn’t Kyle say something about not bringing cases home at the beginning of the season?
At school, Danny and Karen walk into a meeting with the principal. Karen thought it was going to be private. Nope, turns out the president of the school board and Regina’s mother, Gloria, were there too. They wanted to expel Danny for missing one of his school therapy sessions that he had to take after his fight with Archie earlier in the season.
Before they officially expel him, the principal pipes up that they will have a hearing to decide whether or not to expel him or not. I wrote in my notes that I rolled my eyes and knew exactly how the episode was going to end. I thought that Jo and Lacey were going to be his friends again and they were going to save the day.
I was wrong. Way wrong.
Flash to Lacey at lunch with Sarita, Phoebe and another random girl. Her name doesn’t matter to me because she hasn’t been a major deal. Sarita even asked her why she was there. Sarita said that she hoped that this mothball incident would be the “final nail in socio’s coffin.”
Sarita is on my list of possible suspects for the mothball poisoning. I just hate her. She’s not funny mean; she’s just evil. Can we expel her instead?
After the meeting, Danny found Cole to talk to him about the incident. Cole said that, after he heard all of the details, he thought that Danny was guilty. Danny pleaded and said that Cole was his friend and he would never do that to him. He then said that Archie was persuading Cole to change his opinion and Cole was offended that Danny blamed “his captain.”
In the schoolyard, Jo and Rico are hanging out. I miss seeing their friendship. I know it is just minor details in the saga that is Danny but I love Rico and Jo scenes. Just as they begin to talk, Lacey comes over. Jo introduces the two and Rico rambles.
Jo talks to Lacey about Danny. The both say that they haven’t interacted with him. Lacey said she almost did but ducked away. Jo said she was keeping a low profile. Just as they get into a conversation, Archie walks over. He says that he is trying to protect the team but feels bad for Danny.
As Archie leaves again, Jo tells Lacey that Archie is the one that poisoned Cole. She pointed out that Archie feels bad, suddenly, and that makes him guilty. Lacey told Jo to move on. She told Jo to let Danny go.
At Danny’s house, he is having a discussion with his mom. He basically gives up and says that he is going to get expelled. She told him that he has to fight. She said that she was going to talk to Tess and see if she could get anyone to testify for him.
At the diner, Kyle (being a good cop) is talking to the mayor about Vikram. Turns out that the company that he transferred money to was sending money into city hall. The files were also missing. The mayor said that Kyle was getting distracted and who cared if some files were missing. Kyle said that he thought that maybe someone was covering for Vikram.
The mayor then said something that I’ve been saying the entire show; Kyle wasn’t doing a very good job at solving Regina’s murder. Kyle just told him to look into the files and the mayor agreed to. However, the mayor looked guilty of something.
At school, Jo talks to Tyler. As a reminder, Tyler is the guy who planned the fake strangling at Danny’s party for a documentary. Jo tried to shoo him away but he stayed. He said that he stopped doing the documentary and asked her to be his friend. He said that school is better when Jo is around. Cute- still doesn’t make up for his party fiasco. That was just awful.
At school, Lacey is talking to Sarita when Archie walks up. She tells him that she wants to be his friend. Then Rico interrupts and says that they need to talk about Jo’s hair and gives her a wink. He explains that Doug made a video and warns her that it might get out. Lacey goes through the “Doug is creepy” statements and Rico walks away, glad that he told her.
Jo shows up at Danny’s house and says that she doesn’t trust him but still thinks he didn’t do the mothball think. She explains that Archie felt bad and that he is probably guilty. She said that they should use Tyler’s documentary to show that he is good. Danny agrees.
Back at Jo’s house, Kyle and Tess are talking. Tess tells Kyle that he should speak on Danny’s behalf. He says no. Tess replies that he said it was too complicated. Kyle then tells her that he spoke to Regina’s mother and got a dead end. He says that maybe she should have talked to Regina’s mother.
At Lacey’s sleepover, they are talking about Jennifer Lawrence and her hair. They also talked about Winter’s Bone and how she looked in it. Lacey asks the girls, if they found out that she did something really bad, would they still be her friend. They all say yes.
Sarita says that Lacey is her best friend and she would forgive her for anything. Her tone and glare in her eyes showed that she knew more than she was letting on.
Honestly, behind Danny, she’s one of my top murder suspects. She wanted to be Lacey’s BFF and replace Regina. She was at the party too. Sarita is obsessed with Danny’s downfall. Plus, as I stated above, she’s awful.
By a computer somewhere, Danny, Jo and Tyler are looking at clips from the documentary. Danny is being a jerk to Tyler and I don’t blame him. Danny then makes them watch an interview of Cole after he got sick. Cole says that Danny is his friend and a cool guy. Jo says that they have to show it to the board. Danny says that they need to show it to Cole.
At lunch, Tess and Regina’s mother are eating. Tess says that she can’t imagine the pain that Mrs. Crane is going through. Mrs. Crane accuses Tess of having a soft spot for Danny. Tess said that Karen is a mother too and Mrs. Crane continues to rant about Danny. She says that it is her goal to get Danny kicked out of school and then charged with murder. They get into an argument (quietly) and Tess leaves.
At school, Danny shows Cole the video. Cole said that he said that before he knew all of the details. Cole said that people turned on him for being Danny’s friend and they would even more if he testified for him. Cole said that the soccer team was really important to him.
Jo threatened to just play the video and Danny said he wouldn’t. He knew what it felt like to be an outcast on the team and he didn’t want to put Cole through that too. Danny said it wouldn’t matter if he got expelled for it.
Rico went to Lacey again as the video spread to another clique. Lacey said she didn’t care if it got out because her friends would forgive her. Rico said that Jo wouldn’t forgive her because Jo loved Danny. Lacey asked if she still loved him and Rico told her that, even though she said she didn’t, she did.
At the hearing, there was so much twisted drama that I could write for days about it. It was amazing. It is what made me love this episode.
Jo signed up to speak, as did Tess. However, the school board did have better witnesses. First up was Archie.
Archie said that Danny helped the team because he was good at soccer. However, he said that Danny made everything difficult because the team was afraid of him. He said that the team was happy when Danny quit. Then Archie dramatized his fight with Danny. He said that when he got into the fight the look in Danny’s eyes was terrible and that Danny was very physical.
After Archie finished, he walked away with a smirk. Jerk.
A teacher said that Danny made teaching more difficult. Then Cole walked up to the stand. I thought Cole was going to come through. He was going to say that Danny didn’t do it. Wrong- kind of.
Cole said that Danny was a good guy and he didn’t know if he did it. He said the truth was that he didn’t know but that Danny was cool. Wow; what a great interview.
At school, Lacey confronted Doug. She told him to delete the video and delete it off of everyone’s phone and computer. She said to make it go away or she would make the rest of his high school career horrible. Rico complimented her but said that she shouldn’t have offended Eloise, Doug’s friend, because she “never forgets.”
Back at the hearing, Tess was talking. She said that everyone should give Danny another chance and that he was a good kid. Then, Mrs. Crane spoke up.
Which, side bar, why was Regina’s mother on the board deciding if Danny could stay? She didn’t have a daughter at the school. Danny was a suspect in her daughter’s murder? How could that be a clean trial?
Mrs. Crane said that it was inappropriate for Tess to testify for Danny because her husband was on the case and wasn’t doing a good job. Tess (finally finding a backbone) yelled back that Mrs. Crane shouldn’t be on the board because it was her personal vendetta to get Danny kicked out.
Then Mrs. Crane yelled that Danny was a murderer. Karen stood up and argued that Danny was her son and that Mrs. Crane couldn’t talk about him like that. The best part of the whole episode is how Karen reacted to Mrs. Crane’s outburst and bias.
Karen stood up and said that Regina was a whore and that everyone knew it.
Not that I’m saying that Regina is a whore (I only knew her one episode, so who am I to judge?) but that was awesome. Horrible for the case, but it was an incredibly emotional scene that reminded me why I watch Twisted every week.
After it all calmed down (my heart was still racing), Jo went up to testify. When asked if Danny was a good person, Jo said it was hard to explain. She said no matter how much she didn’t trust him she couldn’t help it because she was falling… and she cried and ended her testimony.
After the trial, Jo and Danny talked it out. She said that she just really wanted to help and he thanked her. He then said that their relationship was special and that he didn’t know what he would do without her. And she left.
Back at the police station, Kyle gets a visit from the mayor. Instead of bringing the papers that he asked for, the mayor brought in a private investigator to help with the case. He said that the state didn’t love the bad PR that the case was getting and the fact that it was dragging along.
The mayor is obviously hiding something.
The private investigator asked for all of the details of the case and what Kyle had on Danny. Not that I’m a private investigator but I think you should start with a clean slate rather than focusing on one kid. Should we start a Bad Investigator Moment scale?
Lacey and Jo had another BFF moment this episode. Lacey had heard about how Jo half-cried on the stand. Jo tells Lacey that she is in love with Danny and that she should have told her. Jo says that she knows he doesn’t feel the same way.
Then Jo really, unknowingly, breaks Lacey’s heart. Jo says that even if he did feel the same way, she’d never date Danny without talking to Lacey. She said that their friendship is too important and that they care about each other.
Then the most shocking moment since Regina died happened. (I literally gasped.) Danny was expelled! I mean, were you guys expecting that?
As Danny cleans out his locker, there is a montage of everyone in the school getting the video of Danny and Lacey making out. And by everyone, I mean everyone.
Archie (heartbroken), Sarita (shocked), Phoebe (gasped), assorted characters (laughed). Then it showed Lacey getting it. And she was sad, shocked, and worried at the same time.
We then see Doug watching the video again and that little witch Eloise (who never forgets anything) standing in the background. It is obvious that she is the one who made the video go viral.
Then Jo received it while doing homework at the diner with Rico. Before we got Jo’s true reaction, we were left with a cliffhanger.
There isn’t a new episode for two weeks so next week, so look out for a Top Ten Twisted Moments. Did you like when Karen fought in court or did you love when Lacey kissed Danny for the first time? Tell me yours below.
