Another athlete is reportedly going to try to make it in Hollywood. UFC champion Ronda Rousey is set to make her film debut with a supporting role in Fast & Furious 7. She’s also committed to appearing in Expendables 3.
Variety is reporting today that Rousey is in very early talks with Fast 7’s producers to join the film. If she does join, it will be the film’s first major casting, since producers reportedly failed to get Denzel Washington to join the hit franchise.
Shooting will start this fall in Atlanta, where Rousey also plans to train for a future fight. The plot details haven’t been released yet, but writer Chris Morgan, producer Neal H. Moritz and Vin Diesel will all be back. The Conjuring’s James Wan is directing and the film is set to be released on July 2014.
The site also confirmed that Rousey has signed on to do Expendables 3, which has recently been in the headlines after Bruce Willis left over a salary dispute. Harrison Ford is also joining Sylvester Stallone and other action stars in the film, which is set to open in August 2014.
As CinemaBlend notes, Rousey’s leap into the film industry is similar to Gina Carano, another MMA fighter. Carano appeared in Fast 6 and Steven Soderbergh’s Haywire.
