R&B star Usher’s son Usher Raymond V is out of the hospital after nearly drowning in a pool last week. The younger Usher has already been spotted playing since his release.
The 5-year-old Usher was playing in a swimming pool on Aug. 5 when he got his hand stuck in a drain. While Usher was not home at the time, an aunt was at the scene and tried to help. When she couldn’t get the boy’s hand free, she called for help and two men working on the house came to the rescue. He was then taken to an Atlanta hospital.
“I am blessed and fortunate to say that my son Usher V is doing well and is recovering,” the “Yeah” singer said in a statement. He also thanked fans for their support and the two men who saved his son’s life.
“I would especially like to thank the two men who saved my son’s life, Eugene Stachurski and Ben Crews. They are true heroes and I am deeply grateful to them,” Usher said.
People confirmed that Usher Raymond V left the hospital yesterday and “is going to be just fine,” according to a source. “Doctors were taking every precaution to make sure Cinco was okay, but the danger looks like it has passed,” People’s source added.
TMZ reports that Usher Raymond V was clearly doing so well that he was spotted at an indoor play center with his grandmother. His baby brother joined them.
Usher was most recently a coach on The Voice and will return to the NBC show in spring 2014. He also retained primary custody of his children after his ex-wife, Tameka Foster Raymond, called an emergency hearing.
