Days before Usher’s five-year-old son, Usher Raymond V, nearly drown after getting his arm stuck in a pool drain; the “DJ Got Us Fallin’ in Love” singer was at battle with ex-wife Tameka Raymond over child support payments.

TMZ reports that Usher filed documents to change the amount of child support he gives to Tameka monthly, nearly $8,000 for their two children, as the children have been living with him since a judge granted The Voice mentor primary custody last year. Usher claims that he has been overpaying Tameka for nearly seven months and wants the situation rectified.

A court date over the child support payments has not been set.

As we previously reported, Usher retained primary custody of his children after Tameka requested an emergency hearing on the grounds that her ex-husband was leaving his children in unsafe conditions following Monday’s accident.

Tameka reportedly requested for more custody, but was shot down by the judge. Usher gave his ex-wife a hug following the judge’s ruling.
