The Voice coach Usher Raymond is speaking out following the near drowning of his 5-year-old son Usher Raymond V.
“I am blessed and fortunate to say that my son Usher V is doing well and is recovering,” he said in a statement as quoted by Life & Style.
“I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of prayers, love and support for my family’s well-being,” he continued adding, “I would like to thank my Aunt Rena as well as the doctors and nurses who are working with us around the clock…I would especially like to thank the two men who saved my son’s life, Eugene Stachurski and Ben Crews. They are true heroes and I am deeply grateful to them."
The incident occurred after Tuesday at the singer/songwriters home. Usher V dove down to retrieve a toy by the drain and his arm got stuck. His aunt, who was watching him at the time, tried to free the young boy but was unable. The maid also tried and was unable to free the child. Finally, two men working in the home were able to free little Usher and begin CPR.
Usher returned home and traveled with his son to the hospital where he is recovering.
