In the World’s competition that took place in Spain this Sunday, swimming for the Americans in the 400-meter medley relay America’s Olympic sweetheart gave us a lot to be proud of Sunday when she took home her 6th gold medal for the American team. At the age of 18, Missy Franklin has become a hero.

According to Yahoo News, her winning time was 3 minutes, 53.23 seconds. Australia claimed Silver in the league and Russia took the Bronze medal. Franklin told the press, ''I had some really great races that I'm really proud of, and there's still a bunch where I have a lot of room to improve… I'm really excited for the next year and the year after that and all the years following those.''

Franklin became the fifth swimmer to capture as many as six gold medals at either worlds or an Olympics championships. After her performance at the London Olympics, where she won the US four Golds and a Bronze, she quickly became an international star.

Franklin told ESPN earlier this year that she will heading off to the University of California to continue her studies. She signed a two-year contract with the NCAA swimming team there and will be training with US Olympic coach Teri McKeever. After completing her studies, she plans on turning pro and competing in the 2016 Rio Olympics.

The swimming star as also had a recent stint on TV’s Pretty Little Liars. Stars like Justin Bieber and even Prince Harry reached out to her this year and were very impressed with how humble, athletic, and skilled she is. No doubt she’ll be turning heads at Cal and reeling in friends with her impressive resume and popularity
