Will.i.am has reportedly turned down an offer to become a judge on American Idol this upcoming season. He chose to become a mentor on the U.K. version of The Voice instead.
The Black Eyed Peas star will return to the show for its third season. Last week is reportedly when there was a break down in discussions between Fox and the “Scream and Shout” singer, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Although Fox hasn’t officially announced it yet, Jennifer Lopez is rumored to come back as judge next season. Her boyfriend, Casper Smart, who apparently thought an official announcement was already made, confirmed she was returning in a recent interview.
The only judge from last season that is confirmed to return is Keith Urban.
E! Online reports that Dr. Luke is “close to signing” a deal to be the third judge, according to a source.
He has produced such hits as Katy Perry’s "California Gurls” and Idol winner Kelly Clarkson’s “Since U Been Gone.”
