Pro-wrestler Darren Young was caught in a paparazzi firestorm at LAX Wednesday, but rather than quickly pushing past photographers in the hopes of a quick getaway, Young opted to stun his interviewer. While being pressed if he believes whether or not a gay wrestler could make it big in the industry, Young confessed absolutely because he is gay.
"Absolutely. Look at me. I'm a WWE superstar and to be honest with you, I'll tell you right now, I'm gay. And I'm happy. I'm very happy,” Young confessed to TMZ.
Noticeably stunned, Young, whose real name is Fredrick Douglas Rosser, continued on telling TMZ, "I don't think it matters. Does it matter? Does it change what you think about me?"
Young has become the first pro wrestler to officially come out as gay, the report notes.
Since coming out yesterday, Young is already receiving praise from fellow wrestler John Cena who called Young’s coming out “a bold move” and stating, “I know Darren personally. Darren's a great guy. That's a very bold move for him. And congratulations for him for actually finally doing it."
Cena also notes that he doesn’t think the organization is going to mind what sexual orientation any of the wrestlers are.
