The first presenters for this month’s 65th Primetime Emmy Awards has been announced. Actors Matt Damon and Michael Douglas, who starred in the acclaimed Behind The Candelabra will present an award during the ceremony.
The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences made the announcement today. Damon and Douglas have never presented at the ceremony before and both are actually competing for the same award - Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie for their roles in Behind The Candelabra.
Douglas, who won an Oscar for Wall Street and another for co-producing One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest, has never won an Emmy. He was previously nominated in 2002 for his guest role in Will & Grace. He stars as Liberace in Candelabra, which was directed by Steven Soderbergh.
Damon was last nominated in 2011 for his hilarious guest role in 30 Rock. He has also never won an Emmy. He played Scott Thurston in Candelabra.
Candelabra scored 15 nominations. The film aired on HBO in May.
The Emmys airs on CBS this year with How I Met Your Mother’s Neil Patrick Harris hosting. It starts at 8 p.m. on Sept. 22.
