Actress Marta Heflin died at age 68 of a lenthy illness on Sept. 18.
The news was announced through a paid obituary that appeared in The New York Times, reports Entertainment Weekly.
Heflin often worked together with director Robert Altman's films, including A Perfect Couple, A Wedding and Come Back to the Five and Dime. She was also in Martin Scorsese's The King of Comedy.
Heflin also appeared on Broadway in the Altman play version of Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean; she was also in the film version.
She also had TV roles, appearing in the soap The Doctors and Arthur Miller's Playing for Time.
The rest of her family worked in Hollywood. Her mother, Julia Heflin, was both a journalist and a theater producer. Her uncle was Oscar winner Van Heflin, who was involved in such films as Airport, Shane and The Strange Love of Martha Ivers. Another uncle, Sol Kaplan, was a Hollywood composer.
The actress' family was asking that any donations be made to nonprofit organization, Animal Haven.
