Alec Baldwin is moving on from his acting roots and taking a spot as the newest talk show host of Up Late w/Alec Baldwin set to air Fridays.

The former 30 Rock actor was recently announced as the host of a weekly current events set to air at 10 p.m. beginning in October, USA Today reports.

"After two seasons of my WNYC podcast, I've developed a fondness for hosting a show that involved talking with smart, talented and engaging people in every imaginable field," Baldwin explains. "I'm grateful to MSNBC for helping me bring a similar show to television.”

Cinema Blend notes that the talk show will vary in topic, from politics to entertainment news and will feature on air guests. Baldwin has long been the subject of other talk show hosts conversations following his numerous run-ins with paparazzi.

Baldwin’s new position comes shortly after the birth of his second daughter Carmen Gabriela with wife Hilaria Thomas.
