AMC has announced Monday that The Walking Dead will be getting a spinoff series.
The companion series is called Spread the Dead, Los Angeles Times reports. The Walking Dead's creator Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert will serve as executive producers.
There has not been any plot information released for Spread the Dead, but it is believed it will take a different look at the zombie-filled world. While separate from the main show, there is still a chance cast members on The Walking Dead could appear in the companion show.
"The opportunity to make a show that isn't tethered by the events of the comic book and is truly a blank page, has set my creativity racing," Kirkman said, according to TIME.
AMC also has two new drama shows, Halt & Catch Fire and Turn, set for a 2014 premiere. The cable network also recently began shooting a new pilot called Line of Sight.
AMC seems busy with new shows as it also announced recently a spinoff prequel to Breaking Bad called Better Call Saul.
The companion series is expected to launch in 2015. The Walking Dead's fourth season begins Oct. 13.
