American Idol fans are alleviated that Fox Productions has finally confirmed the three judges for season 17. New judge Harry Connick Jr. promises that this season everyone should “expect the unexpected.”

The Associated Press reports that Connick Jr., along with fellow judges Jennifer Lopez and returning judge Keith Urban, held a tryout Wednesday. The jazz musician and actor notes, “I mean, I didn't know what to expect, and Keith and Jennifer have both done it before, and I think the whole fun of it is not knowing what to expect.”

Urban is the only judge to withstand the firings that came after last season. Lopez previously judged in 2011 and 2012.

Connick Jr. explained that he will always have something to say so long as the focus remains on the contestants.

According to Boston Globe, the three judges have incredible chemistry even after just two days of auditions together.

Connick Jr. explained that the idea of the three of them performing together would be “phenomenal.”

“ You’re talking about two of the greatest performers on the planet,” Connick Jr. explained with Urban adding, “And me.”
The new season of Idol is set to air January 2014.
