Andy Murray, a Wimbledon champion and Olympic gold medalist, lost to Stanislas Wawrinka on Thursday afternoon, ending his run in the US Open.

Murray lost the match quickly 6-4, 6-3, 6-2, making this his earliest exit from the U.S. Open since 2010. He expressed his frustration on the court, throwing and disfiguring his racket while letting out frustrated screams.

Murray told reporters, “I would have liked to have played a little bit better [...] I’ve had a good run the last couple of years. It’s a shame I had to play a bad much today,” The Washington Post reports.

Prior to the game, Wawrinka told reporters that his game had become increasingly more confident in the recent months.

Murray described his opponent, “[Wawrinka] played exceptional tennis and served very, very well. He hit a lot of lines on big point for his shots and they all went in today. He played too well,” reports BBC News.

Wawrinka’s next match will be against the winner of Thursday’s quarterfinal between Novak Djokovic and Mikhail Youzhny.
