Betty White has had a resurgence in popularity as of late, but she’s never stopped working. She’s been in the entertainment business so long that the Guinness Book of World Records had to come up with a new title just for her - “Longest TV Career For An Entertainer (Female).”
White, who currently stars on TV Land’s Hot In Cleveland and hosted NBC’s Off Their Rockers, has been working in Hollywood for 74 years now, notes Deadline. The category was previously not gender-specific and the title was held by Bruce Forsyth (although Mickey Rooney has had a pretty incredible career, too).
The 91-year-old White has been in the business since 1939, when she started on radio. She later established herself as a top TV talent in shows like The Golden Girls, The Bold and the Beautiful and The Mary Tyler Moore Show. She has won both Daytime and Primetime Emmys, including one for hosting Saturday Night Live in 2010.
"I was astounded when [Guinness World Records] called to tell me. Who? Me!?! It's such as honor," White said in a statement, notes People. “The book has always been fascinating to me. I can't believe I'm now associated with it.”
Taylor Swift also earned the title “First Solo Female with Two Million-Selling Weeks on the U.S. Albums Chart” and Justin Bieber is the “Youngest Solo Artist to Have Five U.S. #1 Albums.”
