VICTIM: Adam Pact
SCENE OF THE CRIME: Indian Reservation in Virginia.
SQUIDTERN: Arastoo
The episode begins with Cam and Arastoo driving. They get pulled over by a seemingly racist cop. Angered, Cam talks back to the cop causing her to get arrested.
At the scene of the crime Booth, Brennan, and Hodgins search for clues.
When the body is brought back to the lab, it is determined that blood force drama is the cause of death. However, the more pressing issue is that Cam's identity has been stolen. Her lab security clearance, her credit cards, and her bank account have all been blocked. Everyone tries to show support for Cam, and give her advice, but she swiftly rejects it, wanting to get back to the case.
Due to the Bobcat scavenging the remains, it is difficult to acquire an I.D. for the victim. However, per usual Brennan finds an answer. The victim suffered from a rare type of sclerosis, degrading of the bone. They are able to ID him based on hospital records.
The victim is identified as management consultant Adam Pact.
Sweets, off his game, and Booth go see his wife. She immediately falls with grief.
When the evidence points to a marriage retreat where the FBI doesn't have clearance, Booth and Bones go undercover to a marriage retreat as Tony and Roxy.
In the lab, the victim's brittle bones make it difficult to determine strength of force that caused fractures, making things even more difficult than usual in the lab. However, it is discovered that two assailants attacked the victim.
Cam's credit cards were cancelled. She refuses Hodgins when he offers her a lawyer. She wants to be independent, but everyone wants to help prevent her from losing everything.
Meanwhile at retreat, the group talks about couples and secrets. Bones brings up Booth's, though in a more playful matter. They do not dwell on the subject. Rather they mock one another for Booth's beer hat and Bone's african fertility statue.
The couples move Into a sana to talk as the next part of the retreat. Bones briefly looses her identity with her inability to withhold her knowledge. Quickly regaining her fake persona, she starts speaking Latin upon Kelly's ancestors. Meanwhile the boys, talk about boxing. When Booth mentions the case, they respond that Adam was having an affair. Kelly was "housewives jealous."
Kelly received over 500 grand from her ex boyfriend. Two ex boyfriends back to back. Anger issues.
Cam finally accepts Hodgins help. Hodgins is very empathetic, especially since because he had previously lost his entire fortune due to Pelant.
Sweets and Angela are at the diner. He is upset that he is off his game. She comforts him.
Back at the retreat, the couples are asked to wear sumo wrestler suits as an exercise. One partner must wear the suit, while the other directs them. Booth, with his military training no doubt, excels while everyone else fails. In the process, they find the murder weapon. Two swinging poles, a guillotine, that are part of the course.
At this point, Booth and Bones reveal their identities and interrogate the retreat leader. Because the FBI does not have jurisdiction, the leader had to be persuaded before he offered any assistance. He calls Adam and Kelly "insane." Kelly tried coming on to him to make Adam jealous. He thinks they needed mental help.
Meanwhile at the lab, Arastoo and Cam have lunch and discuss her dilemma. Angela discovers that the swinging pendulum is not the murder weapon. Hodgins uses the splinters in the victim's teeth, which are from an oak tree, to determine where exactly Pact was murdered. Bones finds a tree, which she discovers was used as the murder weapon. Booth finds car keys. Tire tracks lead up to the murder tree. Emma Pact had similar gravel in her yard.
Cam's situation worsens. Arastoo comforts her. Cam worked hard to get to where she is, and her identity is being ruined. As valedictorian of her high school, youngest coroner in the country, leading most reputable lab in the US, she has a lot to lose.
In the interrogation room, Emma Pact denies everything.
Bones realizes that at the retreat, her and Booth have a strong relationship while Angela helps Cam with records of fraudulent accounts. Cam is touched.
Hodgins discovers that the car that hit the murder victim was manufactured before 1970, which ties the evidence to the elderly couple, the Shoemockers. They confess to everything, and willingly go to prison with the false pretense that they would be together (Sadly, that is not true.)
The episode concludes Booth and Brennan do Shaman ritual to instill love and trust, leading to a different kind of ritual of love (If you know what I mean).
Net week on Bones, Sweets goes on leave, but first solves one last case with Booth.
