Brad Pitt is working on a film set during World War II and we’re pretty sure that most soldiers - especially those working in tanks - did not have long hair. So, the world famous movie star has finally had to chop off those long locks he’s been sporting.

Us Weekly and JustJared posted pictures of Pitt with the short hairdo he was known for wearing back when his career first started. Since he’s now an international celebrity, he must have decided that long hair was the way to go and he has kept it for some of his recent films, including World War Z, 12 Years A Slave and The Counselor.

However, probably for the sake of historical accuracy, he can’t have the long hair for Fury. In the film, Pitt leads a tank crew during the final days of World War II that faces a last-ditch effort from the Germans. Fury is in production in the U.K., where Pitt was spotted with the short ‘do, and is being directed by End of Watch’s David Ayer.

Sony will release Fury in November 2014.

If you’re already missing Pitt’s long hair, you can catch his interviews from the Toronto International Film Festival last week. He was there to promote 12 Years A Slave and said that a sequel to his summer hit World War Z is in the works. His hair was so long at the event that he wore it in a bun on the red carpet.
