All bad things have finally come to an end, and there are a lot of people that are upset about it.
There’s a mix emotions going through fan’s heads as they come to terms with what happened for Breaking Bad’s finale.
Walt hotwires a car while in hiding in New Hampshire, and decides to give Elliot and Gretchen a visit. What first seems as an ominous visit to take revenge out on his former partners, Walt asks them one favor – to take the nine million (that he just threw on their couch) and give it to Walt Jr. on his 18th birthday. They agree, but Walt has his fun. Two red lasers appear on Elliot and Gretchen’s chests, and Walt says that if they do anything with the money besides give it to Walt Jr. that they will be assassinated: “Cheer up beautiful people, this is where you get to make it right.” This chilling moment turns into and serves as the most appropriate way to say goodbye to everyone’s favorite comic relief in the show – Badger and Skinny P. As they sit in the car with Walt after playing with laser pointers, Walt asks where the blue meth is coming from. They say they thought it was Walt, and were under the impression that Jesse had moved.
The image we get of Jesse is one that gives the viewer a visual of a sensitive side that was talked about in a previous season. He’s building a box in woodshop class with pride and precision. Then, we are shifted to the image of Jesse being a prisoner making meth in Todd’s lab. The contrast between the two reminds the viewer of how far Jesse has come.
Walt is back in town, and the beginning of the episode’s premiere finally comes into play. He goes to Todd and Lydia’s meeting, and says he has an easy way of getting them methlamine. Lydia coldly declines, and there’s a shot of her Stevia going into her coffee. I always thought that stuff was bad for her, but never thought it would eventually lead to the end of her. Walt swipes Stevia packet for a packet of ricin.
Marie calls Skyler and we see that they’ve moved into a new house. Marie says that their neighbor (“Becky? Carol, whatever.”) saw Walt in their old house and that he acted normally. We then see Walt building some kind of trigger device in the desert that is controlled by his car key remote.
Walt goes to see Skyler, and tells him that he just wanted a proper goodbye. Skyler says that she doesn’t want to hear that it’s about the family, and finally Walt admits the truth: “I did it for me. I liked it. I was good at it… I was alive.” Walt gives the GPS coordinates to Skyler, and says that’s where he kept the money that Jack stole and that’s where they would find Hank and Goemz. He asks to see the kids one last time, and says goodbye to Holly. In the distance, Walt watches Walt Jr. go inside. That’s the last Walt sees of Junior, and he leaves.
Walt goes to meet with Jack to get him to buy more meth using his method (Yes, I did that on purpose). Jack is about to kill Walt, where Walt says he knows about Jesse and that they’re partners. Jack gets enraged, and tells Todd to get Jesse and patronizes him, asking if Jesse looks like a partner. Walt grabs his keys only moments before, and he jumps on Jesse. He then pushes the button on his car keys and the machine gun comes out and shoots through the concrete walls. It’s able to kill all of Jack’s men. Walt, Jesse, Jack, and Todd are the only that survive. Jesse jumps on Todd and strangles him, and Walt shoots Jack in the head (where we get to see blood and all thanks to this sweet camera angle).
Jesse picks up the gun and Walt starts saying that Jesse wants this to happen. Jesse again asks Walt to say that he wants it, not Jesse. Then, Jesse drops the gun and says that if he wants to die so badly, to do it himself. Walt is already shot, and after a look of understanding between the two.
Lydia calls Todd and Walt answers. Lydia asks if Todd has killed Walt, and once she realizes that it’s not Todd, she asks who it is: “It’s Walt. How are you feeling? A little under the weather?” Walt tells her that it’s the ricin he gave her, and says goodbye.
Jesse gets in the car and drives away. He gets away right before the police come. Walt walks towards the lab set up, and lies on the floor. He says goodbye to what made him happy, and to the world as he lies on the floor as the police approach him. This is how we say goodbye to Walt. Does he die there? Do they rush him to the hospital and persecute him? I guess it’s up for us to truly decide.
