Earlier this week, Bruce Jenner sparked some plastic surgery rumors when he was spotted with some bandages covering his nose while on a coffee run in Calabasas.
According to New York Daily News, the patriarch of the Kardashian clan went under the knife to remove a chunk of tissue due to skin cancer.
Now, E! Online reports that the 63-year-old Olympian is opening up about his battle with skin cancer.
Jenner said, “I was diagnosed with a form of Melanoma called Basal cell carcinoma and have undergone Mohs surgery to remove it. I have been struggling with this for several years and appreciate all of the support and prayers while I continue to fight the battle against skin cancer.”
This is reportedly the second surgery Bruce has had this year as part of an ongoing treatment. His previous surgery resulted in a cancerous lesion tissue from his cheek being removed.
Bruce, who has always had a passion for outdoor sports, is now focusing on protecting his skin. He said, “This has taught me to be extra vigilant when out in the sun and I encourage others to get regular checkups and always wear sunscreen.”
