Bruno Mars has been chosen to perform at the Super Bowl XLVIII halftime show, scheduled for Feb. 2, but no official announcement has been made yet.
A person close to the NFL told The AP the news on a condition of anonymity.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has spoken about anticipation about the entertainment for the halftime show, which will be held in East Rutherford, N.J. this year, saying there was "more buzz around this Super Bowl this year than any Super Bowl in its history.”
USA Today notes this will mark a big step in Mars’ career, and he will follow-up Beyonce’s performance from last year.
He has multiple No. 1 hits under his belt, his most recent being “Treasure.” His debut album Doo-Wops & Hooligans went platinum two times over, with Unorthodox Jukebox going platinum as well. He’s a Grammy winner and most recently won Best Male Video and Best Choreography at the MTV Video Music Awards, where he also performed, Zap2it reports.
