Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Josh Freeman is likely to seek a trade before next month’s trade deadline.
Freeman’s relationship with coach Greg Schiano is supposedly unrepairable. Executives from other teams believe that Schiano’s refusal to endorse Freeman was an attempt to undermine Bucs general manager Mark Dominik, who drafted Freeman in the first round prior to Schiano’s arrival from Rutgers, according to CBS Sports.
Freeman has been as any other quarterback at times, but has struggled with consistency. Last year he threw for over 4,000 yards and almost 30 touchdowns. The Buccaneers drafted quarterback Mike Gelnnon in the third round this spring. Glennon is clearly seen as “Schiano’s guy” and makes it clear that Freeman’s future is somewhere else besides Tampa, note CBS Sports.
In just four seasons in the NFL, Freeman has more passing yards, touchdowns, and fewer interceptions than Joe Montana and John Elway. He has fewer interceptions than Peyton Manning. In four years his totals are 12,965 yards, 78 touchdowns, and 63 interceptions, according to The Sports Xchange. Freeman added 210 yards, one touchdown, and one interception to those totals last week.
The Minnesota Vikings, Tennessee Titans, and the Oakland Raiders are teams where Freeman could end up. Wherever Freeman ends up he will be a great addition.
