Carrie Underwood is replacing Faith Hill as the musical talent for NBC's “Sunday Night Football,” and she plans on mixing it up a bit.
Hill held the job for five years, and made her own mark on the traditional “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night.” While Underwood is excited to start her new job, she told the Associated Press that she doesn't want to sing exactly the way that Hill did.
Does this mean the song will turn into a country – twang number now? No - she doesn't want to out-step Hill at all, so she will preserve the main integrity of the song.
"We were definitely mindful — she had put her mark on it for so many years," Underwood said in an interview.
She really just wanted to change “up the look and the feel just so it wasn't, you know, the same song with a different blondie up there singing it." The “Before he Cheats” singer wants to make a name for herself in the football world, and won't settle for being a copycat.
M Stars News reports that Underwood has been working with her producer to cook up something really special.
We will hear Underwood's adaptation for the first time this Sunday before the match up of the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants.
