Carrie Underwood is set to perform at Sunday’s Primetime Emmy Awards. The American Idol winner will sing in honor of the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy and of the The Beatles' performance on the The Ed Sullivan Show that occurred 80 days later.
Actor Don Cheadle will introduce the “Blown Away” singer.
In a statement, executive producer Ken Ehrlich said of the tribute, “To have an opportunity to look back at a time that represented television's finest hour in a program that celebrates so many of this year's achievements is what makes the Emmys special. We are certain that viewers will enjoy this special tribute,” E! Online reports.
How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris will host the 65th Emmy Awards on Sunday. Underwood won’t be the only one there performing, as Elton John will also grace the stage.
As we previously reported, John will sing in honor of Liberace and he will also present alongside Behind the Candelabra stars Michael Douglas and Matt Damon during the show.
