CBS said Friday that it is bringing back Unforgettable with Poppy Montgomery for a third season.
The crime procedural that co-stars Dylan Walsh was given a 13-episode order and will return in Summer 2014, notes Deadline.
Its second season, which aired this past summer, averaged 8.2 million viewers, according to TV Guide.
Season three was guaranteed much easier than season two. After its freshman season ran during the traditional 2011-2012 TV season, it was cancelled. But a month after that decision, CBS began talking about bringing it back. As the show’s first season ended, there were talks with TNT and Lifetime about them picking it up, but CBS instead decided to keep the show going, using it as original summer programming.
Unforgettable was created by John Bellucci and Ed Redlich, who executive produce the series with Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly. Montgomery plays Carrie Wells, a former detective who can remember every intricate detail of a crime scene, a skill she uses to solve crimes every week.
CBS has also renewed Under The Dome, its other hit original summer series.
