After more than seven years in the Royal Air Force, Prince William is leaving his military career in order to concentrate on charity work.
The Duke of Cambridge served as a pilot in the Royal Air Force Search and Rescue Force where he participated in 156 search and rescue operations and saved 149 lives. Now, the future king will turn his attention to saving the environment.
According to a royal statement, William will work closely with the Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry. In this foundation, he will focus on conservation and the protection of endangered species.
CNN reports that the Duke will also become the president of United for Wildlife. The environmental group is a collaboration of seven influential conservation organizations, in addition to the Royal Foundation. The philanthropy will fight against the illegal wildlife trade.
Along with his environmental endeavors, William will continue his work with children and veteran’s charities, the statement said.
The prince reportedly completed his last search and rescue shift on Tuesday, and will move into Kensington Palace with the Duchess of Cambridge and Price George within the next few weeks.
