In the third quarter of Sunday's contest between the Philadelphia Eagles and the San Diego Chargers, Chargers receiver Malcom Floyd was hospitalized with a neck injury.

Floyd remained on the field for about ten minutes after going down with the injury. According to USA Today the 10-year vet appeared to have his head down when he made contact with the shoulder of Philadelphia linebacker DeMeco Ryans trying to catch a pass.

Floyd was sandwiched by Ryans and safety Nate Allen at midfield, according to ESPN. After the play while Floyd remained on the ground, players from both teams gathered around the receiver awaiting word from the medical staff. When Floyd was lifted onto the stretcher he did not appear to be moving his limbs. It was not immediately known how severe the injury actually was, but he was officially listed as out for the rest of the game.

Floyd recorded 5 catches for 102 yards before his third quarter injury. Chargers players and fans can only hope for a speedy recovery.
