Cher had a lot to say about Bangerz singer Miley Cyrus, criticizing her MTV VMA performance and her ability to dance while promoting her own album Closer to the Truth, her first since 2002.
The Oscar, Emmy, Grammy, and Golden Globe award winner called Cyrus’ performance on Aug. 25 “so bad.”
She told USA Today, "I'm not old-fashioned. She could have come out naked, and if she'd just rocked the house, I would have said, 'You go, girl.' It just wasn't done well. She can't dance, her body looked like hell, the song wasn't great, one cheek was hanging out. And, chick, don't stick out your tongue if it's coated."
However, Cher is a fan of Lady Gaga, even though she turned down a duet they had been working on. "She didn't like it," she said. "I wasn't thrilled with my part, and she wasn't thrilled with her part, and neither one of us were thrilled with the music.”
She continued "Gaga's got 'it,' the way Madonna had 'it,' something that made you stop and go, 'What's that?' It's not just crazy clothes. Madonna had her ear to the ground and knew what was coming before anybody else."
Meanwhile, E! Online notes Paula Patton, Robin Thicke’s wife, opened up Cyrus’ performance with her husband and said she loved it.
Saying she “doesn’t get” why it was such a “big deal,” on Watch What Happens Live, she also said, "I didn't know if they thought Miley was going to sit down and play piano like Alicia Keys. Her song's about taking Molly! I don't understand. I didn't get the big deal."
