The wait is over! Dakota Johnson has officially been cast to play Anastasia Steele in E L James’ hit erotic novel, Fifty Shades of Grey.
According to Access Hollywood, the author made the official announcement early Monday afternoon on Twitter.
“I am delighted to let you know that the lovely Dakota Johnson has agreed to be our Anastasia in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey,” she wrote.
Johnson’s credits include The Social Network, Beastly, The Five Year Engagement, Ben & Kate and 21 Jump Street.
The 23-year-old actress is the only addition to the cast. Production is still currently on the lookout for the perfect Christian Grey. Matt Bomer, Garrett Hedlund and Iam Somerhalder have all been the subject of Christian Grey rumors. Production will have to pick their leading man soon as filming is slated to begin in the coming weeks.
Kelly Marcel is set to pen the script for the erotic film, Sam Taylor-Johnson is set to direct.
50 Shades of Grey is set to hit theaters August 1, 2014.
