A new face has joined Fox News today, with Elisabeth Hasselbeck starting her run on Fox & Friends, the right-leaning news network’s hit morning show. It is Hasselbeck’s first gig since leaving The View this summer and she’s already pleased with the results.
In an interview with The Associated Press this weekend, Hasselbeck praised the show, which is the top-rated morning show in cable news. “You have an entertainment, wake-up show that delivers important information but also meaningful conversation with content that's able to be viewed by your entire family,” Hasselbeck said.
She also noted that she was welcomed with open arms. "I am privileged to call myself a team member...but I have felt like family there for a long time,” she added.
Hasselbeck joked that the only thing she has to get used to is waking up early. The show starts at 6 a.m. “I definitely trend toward the natural night owl end of the spectrum,” she told the AP. “This has been a physical change for me. I actually think the morning hours are kind of peaceful when you have the house to yourself."
Hasselbeck’s departure from The View was made official in July, when Fox News announced that she’d be joining Fox & Friends. There were reports from Us Weekly that the conservative Hasselbeck was ‘ousted’ from the show, but that was later denied.
As E! News notes, Hasselbeck didn’t say anything about The View in the AP interview. “I've had the privilege of having a lot of growth during those 10 years, let's just say that,” she said.
